@Summer Tanager While they aren’t particularly difficult to photograph once you find them, they certainly pose a challenge when you’re looking for them! It didn’t help that the mountain I climbed didn’t have a big population of them unlike a couple other areas in the Japanese Alps where they have been reintroduced. They’re plumage also camouflages with the surrounding rocks and shrubs, and they usually sit still so you have to look very carefully when searching for them.
