Slender-horned gazelle (Gazella leptoceros), 2023-03-28

This individual was the last of her species in Europe, and she has sadly since died.
This is a very good photo, but I'm sad to hear about her passing! There are still several dozen Slender-horned Gazelles in U.S. zoos, but the species doesn't seem to be thriving here either.

@Summer Tanager Sad to loose this species in Europe, but the population had been dwindling for years, and then a kidney disease the origins of which was never conclusively identified wiped out most of the remaining herd at Planckendael, including the final male.

Fortunately Planckendael still displays gazelles, with a breeding herd and a bachelor herd of Dorcas gazelles and a bachelor herd of Mhorr gazelles.
