Northern Fur Seal (Callorhinus ursinus)

Izu Mito Sea Paradise (Shizuoka, Japan)
Northern Fur Seals are housed in a mixed exhibit with California Sea Lions and Largha Seals. The enclosure is a large natural cove, and has a beach.

The first Northern Fur Seals arrived at the facility in 1978 as part of the government research program. Since then, captive population has increased in this facility, and has also been transferred to other aquariums on Japan.
