South American Aviary

Houses Blue-and-yellow macaw (Ara ararauna), Scarlet macaw (Ara macao) and Agouti (Dasyprocta leporina).

Pretty minimal list of species considering the size and quality of this new aviary. Are there any other South American bird species available in NZ that could be added in the future?

@DelacoursLangur There also are/used to be Sun and Maroon-bellied Conures in this aviary.

@DelacoursLangur On my last visit during the weekend I saw a Salmon-crested cockatoo in there (along with the macaws), so technically it’s no longer a South American Aviary. That said, Hamilton Zoo also house Indian antelope in the African Savannah exhibit.
