One of several photographs I recently unearthed when helping Helly's family look through old photographs belonging to her father, his parents and their forebears. I have uploaded several to the gallery, and will post the full set in a thread within the Zoo History subforum.
This photograph, when taken alongside other photographs in this batch showing Helly's father and aunt as young children, is what allowed me to pin down the date these photographs were taken - I knew that the first UK breeding of Indian Rhinoceros took place at Whipsnade in 1957, but the two individuals concerned would have only been about 4 years old at the time. I therefore consulted @Tim May to discover when exactly this calf was born, and whether any further calves were born in the years that immediately followed.
Tim informed me that another calf was born in August 1960, which would fit both with the apparent age of Helly's father and aunt, and the age of the calf if one assumes these photographs were taken in the summer (as they appear to be).
