Great photo! I just made my first trip to Badlands NP with my wife and younger daughter on September 15th! Was this individual near the Homestead Overlook or Burns Basin Overlook? She looks familiar. We saw 9 Bighorn Sheep - two single rams (at different locations near the White River Valley Overlook), a single collared ewe or young ram (by the side of the road near the Homestead Overlook), and a group of six ewes and/or young sheep near the Pinnacles Overlook (two of those were collared). I'll post some photos once I catch up on things at home.
This one was near the Pinnacles Entrance, the first right after the entrance, on the way to the Roberts Prairie Dog Town, which in retrospect we should have gone to. There were also a handful of bison grazing in the distance.
@cubsmaster Thank you! This might have been one of six the Bighorn Sheep ewes that we saw at the Pinnacles. While we were there, they came out of the canyon and started grazing along the road west of the overlook. There was a scattered group of about 30 American Bison there, and at least six Pronghorns with the Bison. Thanks again!
