The Chinese exhibit just beyond the Jungle Palace in Hannover Zoo. A very very nice exhibit indeed! Creates a nice illusion of a Chinese mountain forest. Houses red pandas and chinese muntjacs.

This looks like an extremely spacious, naturalistic exhibit for an adorable animal!

This habitat looks much better than any of hannover's multi-million pound "zoo worlds". Well landscaped, attractive exhibit - perfect for the red pandas.

Yes, it is both spacious and naturalistic, and it looks like it just goes on and on into the background. A very nice enclosure!

Are the Pandas and the Muntjac mixed in the same exhibit or are they separated? If they are mixed, this would be my first time to hear so.

I believe they are mixed - this mix is becoming increasingly common - Lisbon, Kronberg and (if I recall correctly) Krefeld all have the same mix.

Indeed, this is becoming a popular mix. And why not? The pandas and muntjaks complement each other nicely in being arboreal and terrestrial and easily being able to share the same space. Ree Park - Ebeltoft Safari in Denmark and Nürnberg Tiergarten in Germany also keeps these two species together. Berlin Zoo used to but have now demolished their red panda/muntjak exhibit for reasons unknown to me.

Heidelberg Zoo also has a slightly different mix with red pandas and musk deer,

Yes, we were a bit confused by that in September! Doesn't seem any obvious reason for it.

Heidelberg had Tufted Deer with the Red Pandas last year - has this changed?
