@Summer Tanager It used to be the standard around 20 years ago here too, but I think by now the only birds in savannah enclosures in the Netherlands are guineafowl and ostriches. But during my childhood, most (if not all) savannah exhibits had marabou and/or crowned cranes too... The practice is also on its way out in many other Western European countries and outside France I haven't seen so many pinioned birds in hoofstock exhibits in a long long time.
