Circa 35 Species in Amazonian Jewels Aviary

August 12, 2024
@snowleopard That's an incredible collection! I like that so many of the birds that they showcase are species that have some representation in the U.S. and Europe. For example, the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock, Peruvian Pigeon, Crested Quail-Dove, Red-crested Cardinal, Blue-gray Tanager, Capuchinbird, Green Oropendola, Ruddy Quail-Dove, Toco Toucan, Helmeted Curassow, and Amazonian Motmot are species that are exhibited and bred in the U.S. and/or European collections. I feel like Bird Paradise's involvement with these species increased the potential to maintain self-sustaining captive populations of each.
