Thx for the pics Animal,

This enclosure looks amazing

I had heard a lot about this and I'm pleasantly surprised. it's not really my thing, a bit too Disney but it does look quite good as a polar bear exhibit.

I have to say, I do find it annoying when zoo PR gets carried away, I just read on the 'Concept Zoo of the Future' page of their website

"Hannover Adventure Zoo has been making zoo history for 15 years as the first zoo in Germany to take animals out of cages and present them in landscapes like their natural habitats to appeal to visitors"

How many times have I read something like that? Probably every time a new exhibit opens somewhere!

....they've not heard of Hagenbeck then?

Landscapes like their NATURAL hibitats ?

Cool, since I've been to Hannover Zoo ( Zoo ? Really ? ), I know now asian elephants and sibirian tigers are living in jungle place ruins in the wild, hippos are living in caves, northern fur seals in ports, snowy owls in tiny cages in wooden towers.....

I've been to Yukon bay two weeks ago for the first time, It's defenitely the most ridicolous thing ,not only at Hannver Funpark, I've ever seen, also in all Zoos I've been to....

I guess, not really much Zoofreaks have realised, how small the elephant exibit is ? ( and not only this one ! )But I like the Circus Show with the elephants, pretty cool for them.

I hope, after Machens has left the zoo in november, the next guy who follows, will be a "real"zoodirector which a good knowledge about animals and THEIR needs, not only the needs of the visitors.
