NZ forest cover over human settlement

An interesting graphic showing, on the first map, the extent of forest cover before humans arrived in New Zealand (basically the entire country apart for the alpine regions and an area of grassland in the lower South Island). The second map shows how much forest (about half) had already been destroyed by Maori burning by the time of European arrival. The third map shows the current forest areas.
