Burying Mantis Sphodropoda tristis

That's a nice mantis. I'd never heard of it before, so looked it up to see why it is called a Burying Mantis. The name comes from the species' supposed habit of depositing its egg-case in a hole which it digs in the ground, rather than it being attached to objects as in other mantids.

But as I looked further it became apparent that this is based on a single observation in a 1984 paper, and observations since have shown the egg-case to be attached as per normal for mantids.

A 2005 revision of some mantid genera including this one is interesting: https://media.australian.museum/media/Uploads/Journals/18016/1442_complete.pdf
