Recently added to the Pygmy Hippo exhibit. Not commonly seen in zoos and aquariums outside of Southeast Asia. There is a well-known population of this species inhabiting a Thai cave, so they may have been acquired for Rainforest Wild Asia.
An ornamental fish wholesaler imported a large group of these awhile ago but I had no idea where they went to because none of the local stores were stocking them.
@LeMandaiEnthusiast‧ a lot of them are found in captivity, just not in public facilities. Anytime you see something "normal that isn't found in many zoos," chances are it's already established in the private sector, unless it's something impossible to get ahold of due to local laws (not that that stops a certain group of collectors) or geographically difficult to do so.
