Living Shores Aquarium - Long-Tailed Weasel Exhibit

July 12th, 2012.
Several months ago we had a discussion about weasel exhibits (http://www.zoochat.com/2/state-black-footed-ferret-other-weasel-240862/).

An aquarium is not the first place that I would've thought to look for a weasel exhibit.

Weasels are almost unheard of in American zoos and aquariums, but having non-aquatic animals pop up in aquariums has become commonplace. Examples include hedgehogs and Komodo dragons at Virginia, rattlesnakes at Denver, tigers at Denver and Houston; and meerkats at Maritime.

It was originally designed to display a small Patagonian cat species! Don't know if it ever did (hope not), but an interesting example of a good exhibit thematic concept but a failure to consider good animal welfare.
