Sperm whale skull, National museum Scotland

Is it genuine or a cast?
Whale skull to go on display at the National Museum of Scotland, may be of interest.

“The skull of a sperm whale found beached on the banks of the River Forth is to go on display at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.

The 40ft whale, known as 'Moby', became disorientated and stranded while trying to swim inland.

Rescuers, including tugs and the pleasure boat Maid of the Forth, tried to push the whale back out to sea but he died at Airth on 31 March 1997.

The one-and-a-half ton skull will be on permanent display from Friday.

Moby was the first sperm whale to be stranded in the Forth in more than 200 years.”
