04/13/2024 - Visible are a pair of Common Blacktip Sharks (Carcharhinus limbatus), a school of Smallmouth Grunts (Brachygenys chrysargyrea), and a pair of Palette Tangs (Paracanthurus hepatus).
The sharks here are blacktip reef sharks (C. melanopterus). The aquarium may still have signage up of their original blacktips, but they added the smaller Pacific variety a few years ago. It may have been to replace the C. limbatus somewhat as from what I can tell, those are no longer on exhibit at all.
EDIT: I see you completely caught that already in your second media post! I’ll leave this up just so anyone else who clicks only this one will know.
Yeah, I completely messed that up initially; they actually do have Carcharhinus limbatus signed at their Shark Realm exhibit, but I did not see them. Meanwhile, the Blacktip Reefs here are unsigned, so I initially confused the two species.
