Sort of a misleading common name G.aprion is found in Australia as well. In Australia they are usually referred to as ‘Mouth Almighty’ but that obviously does not work in an international context.
@Yoshistar888 you are right, however the Papuan here is in reference to catch location. A lot of the "Australian" freshwater species we get here in Singapore, if not already captive bred over several generations, are often-derived from populations in Papua New Guinea. It's also a way for the store to avoid getting into a long-drawn debate with the local Fisheries and Wildlife dept. over how they got an "Australian fish."
