@Bastou that is what I thought as well. They are really dark with very prominent facial markings. But they all looked the same and there were no other oryx at the zoo (now), so I was wondering if they were just weird-looking ones.
@ralph - The zoo had both Addax and Scimitar-horned Oryx when I was last there. However the head markings are much more like Gemsbok than Addax. Also I don't know why they would be so brown overall if the other parent was an Addax.
Having said that, the Gemsbok x Scimitar-horned Oryx that used to be in NZ looked very similar to Gemsbok and not like these animals at all.
@Chlidonias I think you are right they are S.h. Oryx x Gemsbok. The rusty orange colour markings on S.H. Oryx forequarters appear like a 'wash' all over the body here. The horns, though a bit disfigured in one or two of them, show no sign of the spiralling of Addax either. Hybrids between the same two species can vary a lot in appearance in individual cases, even between subsequent offspring of the same two parents sometimes, which may be why previous specimens of the same cross you have seen before were different-looking to these.
Do you have any photos of the Snub-nosed monkeys at Chengdu Zoo. (I've seen older ones) It sounds like your chances of seeing any in a 'wild' situation have evaporated now?
@Pertinax no I didn't take any photos of the snub-noses at the zoo (there are some from my 2013 visit in the gallery). I was just using my 35mm lens so there wasn't much point.
