Despite hearing them very regularly in rainforest, it had been about a year since I'd seen a wild pitta. Lowland south-east Queensland experienced a boom of Noisy Pittas in late 2023 which meant this species was a lot more accessible across Brisbane. This wasn't repeated in 2024 but fortunately 2025 has started with three wild pitta in upland rainforest.
