Big-eared Climbing Rat (Ototylomys phyllotis)

Awesome! I saw and photographed one in Nicaragua last november.

@ralph that’s awesome!! Great species! Did you keep a list of the wild mammals you saw there? Anything interesting at the zoo?

@Giant Eland It's a pretty short list unfortunately.
A few bats I can't ID, some rodents and howler monkeys.

We saw very little on the night walks we did. No sloths, no armadillos, no porcupines, no skunks, no possums. Not even a single snake.

Nicaragua was great for birds, but we had little luck regarding anything else.

Have photos of any of the bats, I could maybe help?

I've seen some fruit bats in flight which will be impossible to ID (Las Penitas, near Léon)

Some bats in a cave behind a waterfall (Matagalpa). Most likely Carollia perspicillata but not sure.

This bat was inside my cabin in the Mombacho lodge, but our host evicted it before I could get a good photo. It was later hanging on the outside of the 'windows' but heavy rains prevented me from taking a photo from the other side. It did have the curly lines on the back that are present on Rhynchonycteris naso and Saccopteryx

Then there's this rodent which belongs to the Proechimys genus (not sure if possible to ID to species level) near Lake Apoyo
