@lintworm thanks, buzzards are very common in England these days but I'd not seen one with this dark neck/breast and it didn't fit with any pictures in Collins or Merlin
That one shows this type of common buzzard and it is the new best book when it comes to bird identification in Europe. It isn't cheap, but it is worth every penny!
