A pair of Sandhill Cranes (Antigone canadensis) with a Hooded Crane (Grus monacha) behind them, and a pair of White-naped Cranes (Antigone vipio) on the right. The bulk of the cranes at Arasaki are the latter two species. A few Sandhill and Common Cranes are here each year. According to the board at the observatory there are currently just two Sandhill Cranes (which I saw, obviously) and five Common Cranes (of which I saw one).
Amazing!!! I've always wanted to witness the great crane migrations in Kyushu!! Were there any reports of Siberian Cranes this year? I know they also visit infrequently
