Walk-through aviary - Hirakawa Zoo (Kagoshima)

Housing Scarlet Ibis, European White Stork, Demoiselle Crane, Mandarin Ducks, and Red Junglefowl. I didn't see the junglefowl. March 2025

Yes it is a great aviary but it seems like really wasted potential. There is a small flock of Scarlet Ibis, but otherwise just a few Mandarin Ducks, and I saw only a single Demoiselle and single White Stork - and because the whole aviary is a forested hill most of it is not used by the birds at all.
