Giant Eland

Saharan striped polecat (Ictonyx libycus)

Western Sahara, February 2024
I'm curious as to how the W.S. went? from what I understand it is a disputed area... are the Morocco-governed bits [which are in fairness about as much as you'll get to see from what I understand...unless you can get that close to the Berm-Wall and get across to the Polisario side...not advisable] peaceful you'd say?

@dillotest0 The only accessible parts are the Moroccan-governed bits but they're very safe nowadays. You can't get close to the Berm wall, after a certain point there are military checkpoints and you can't go further inland. The Aousserd road, which is where I assume Giant Eland took these pictures, is pretty much as far inland as you can get actually.

@dillotest0 I was tour leader for a Pictus Safaris group that used Dakhla Rovers as the local outfitter. They had set areas we were allowed to visit, which all felt very safe. Also pretty desolate- half the time we were camping in the middle of the desert. I've pinned our approximate locations visited on my travel map which you can see here:

@Mehdi Awsard was as far inland as we went- is that on the Aousserd road?
