@Ebirah766 It's a very rare species. I think this is the only one in an aquarium currently. They do show up sometimes in deep sea aquariums in Japan, but not long-term as far as I can tell. This specimen was indeed kept in one of the deep sea tanks at Tokyo Sea Life Park. He mostly stayed in the back of the tank, so I was lucky when he finally swam towards me. This species makes up for the longsnout boarfish (Pentaceropsis recurvirostris) that passed away before my visit.

Very cool. If I may ask, how many fish/marine invertebrates did you take pictures of during your Japan trip? These are easily my favorite pictures uploaded to Zoochat.
@Ebirah766 There is no way for me to tell how many different species I have seen just yet. I'm far from sorting all of them. Tokyo Sea Life Park is the last day of which I put all photos in my database. I saw at least 800 species I had never encountered before in just 10 days' time. I'm glad you enjoy the pictures, I hope I can upload a lot more of them that you will enjoy looking at.
