Not really relevant to this photo, but by any chance did you manage to spot the new warty pig that was announced to have arrived in the news thread last month, and if so whereabouts in the zoo is it kept?
Haven't seen these anywhere. Apparently they should have replaced the Red river hogs, do you know where these were kept (it's not mentioned on the present map)?
@Philipine eagle thank you. The Red River Hog enclosure (at least in April 2023) was opposite the pygmy goat walkthrough, near the onagers. I can't quite picture it in my head, but I remember it being quite small and barren, with the building behind being very farmhouse-like. Together the whole thing seemed much better suited to domestic pigs than a rainforest-dwelling wild one, but maybe I am underestimating its quality because I didn't linger there for very long and as such don't have the best memory of it.
It wasn't labelled on the map back then either, weirdly enough.
I think I've missed them. I believe the pygmy goat walkthrough is behind the onager enclosure, right at the bistro and children's playground. At the time of my visit there was some kind of gathering over there and it was very crowded with drinking and eating people while music bands were playing. So I walked through it very quickly and did not take the time to look at animals here.
@Philipine eagle quite right, its next to the bistro and playground. In fact, one of the slides in the playground actually leads into the goat walkthrough! I can imagine which that is great fun for children, but it didn't make sense to me how the goats couldn't simply climb on top of the slide and escape.
