I'm guessing the Serval inside the chainlink cage behind the wire fence? Its bad enough these roadsides have poor exhibits but obscuring the animals even further by adding layer after layer of ugly fencing adds further insult.
Thanks for uploading the first photos from Promised Land Zoo, @Forge. Do you happen to know if the zoo is creationist, or was there still a heavy Christian tone to the place? Based on the name and some reviews I read online a while ago they had a lot of religious theming around the zoo at least at one point.
@SusScrofa lots of religious “theming” yes, but not much “creationism” other than speaking of animals as crated by God. As a deeply religious Christian and a creationist myself, the way the zoo deals with the religious “theming” is… confusing to say the least. Rather than connecting things, they simply put Bible verses as signs around the zoo with nothing to do with the animals it’s featuring. Frankly, the condition of the animal exhibits does not line up with the “show love to all God’s creatures” vibe the signage alludes to. If a zoo was to be a “religious zoo,” even though it isn’t to everyone’s taste, I’d rather them go all in rather than just plaster scripture verses around and call it a day. Beyond that, I’d more especially wish that they’d show a bit more care in the exhibits they give to their animals to “practice what they preach” as it were. I have more images I plan to share soon that should show some of this off.
