At the Formosan Golden Bats Home, near Beigang. April 2025. The site is a school yard which the bats have chosen as their seasonal roosting spot. Some bats roost individually but most are in huddled groups.
@Summer Tanager it's my favourite shot of them. They weren't really high up but they are only small with fuzzy faces and I couldn't actually see them properly through the camera to tell if they were in focus, so I just took loads of photos to try and get some good ones. Out of about 200 photos (of different bats in different trees) I got this as my best one!
@Chlidonias Your persistence paid off because this is an excellent photo! Even when roosting in broad daylight, bats are just plain difficult to photograph in my opinion! Thank you for posting these photos!
