The loss of the larger vegetation is unfortunate, must say that I quite liked the way it looks now! Reminds me a bit of the Cerrado, alongise the reddish dirt.

Yes, the looks of the exhibit are still interesting. I look forward though, for Maya to be moved to her definitive moat, which, as you know is more Atlantic forest resembling.
About this pruning procedure, it's been put into practice since the moats were inaugurated (or at least since Valéria became the mammal curator). It's a precaution habit that I find particularly useful with young jaguars and pumas (and with leopards in the 70's and 80's)
