Madagascar construction

This is where I find it ridiculous the zoo thinks it can land pandas - this project is now in its sixth year I believe. Multiple other zoos have redone entire complexes in half the timeframe. They want to build new exhibits ground up for the lions and jaguar to make way for the pandas and yet they can't even finish what they already started...

@Great Argus Yeah and what they do have currently isn't really impressing me either. The fossa habitat is quite small, especially if they seemingly don't have access to one of the compartments and the baobab's invert tanks have some glare problems and all contain species already found in the insect house, 2 out of 5 of which aren't native to Madagascar as well.

@splendens From the pictures I've seen of the Fossa exhibit they basically just put new mesh on and gave the interior a bit of a face-lift. Not impressive at all. Their animals are both on the older side as well, 14 and 18, with low chances of being replaceable at this point in time.
As a whole it's taking them a darn long time for a very mediocre project. Doesn't look much different from when I was last there over a decade ago in all honesty, lot of heavy duty concrete and chain link mesh, just had a slight modernization attempt.

@Great Argus Real shame as I feel like the site had a lot more potential, I'm not sure if the old vertical primate enclosures were in need of demolishing but those could have been refurbished into much a nicer fossa exhibit and for other Malagasy animals, and the whole room which used to contain aye ayes as well. The lemur forest was already a very nice exhibit too.

@ZooFan1 Short answer being no it does not need them, and would be better off investing in refurbishing and updating their numerous old and outdated exhibits and infrastructure.

@Great Argus Yeah, why can’t people from San Francisco just drive down to the San Diego Zoo to see them instead of having them at their zoo? At least the Brookfield Zoo is improving and taking a step in the right direction unlike the San Francisco Zoo

@ZooFan1 Well to be fair it's 8 hours non-stop between the two zoos, assuming you don't hit traffic. It's basically a three day trip to do so and have it be worthwhile. However, SF Zoo is not currently in a stable position on many topics and pandas are a very silly idea.
