Umvikeli - New aviary for vultures, secretary birds and other African birds - Aviary and viewing area, 2025-06-09

I saw all the vulture species, the secretary birds, the francolins and a hoopoe.

In the news thread it was suggested a hornbill species, Abdim's storks, Speckled pigeons and Hamerkop might also be moved into this aviary from different exhibits at Avifauna.

I should add that the Abdim's storks have actually left the zoo. I thought they would be added to the aviary since they've been out of place in the Cuban lagoon aviary for a long while and they were included in the promotional posters at the start

@Mr Gharial I still saw at least one Abdim's stork in the Cuban aviary on June 9th, so must be a recent development.

Reading back Laafsekikkers, someone mentioned in May that the Abdim's storks left the zoo, but if you still saw one then that info is probably inaccurate. In that case, they could still move into Umvikeli
