Having been farmed for years across Asia for the ornamental trade, it was only a matter of time until new forms of the Tucunaré were to appear. This form first appeared in Asia under the moniker "Batik," and are now being marketed across the United States as "Cobra Snakeskin Bass."
This is a hybrid of multiple species, of which the Brokopondo form of Cichla ocellaris, C. intermedia, and C. pinima, are known to be part of the "ingredients" that resulted in this animal.
