These spiders spin a thick X into their web and position themselves on it, with the body in the centre and the legs spread along the X. It's probably a hiding strategy. In this photo the spider is behind the X. I couldn't get my phone to focus on the spiders if taken from the other side - it would just focus on whatever was behind the web instead.
