Countryside aviary -Zoodyssée (2025)

The following species were housed and signed in this lovely walkthrough aviary;
Red-legged partridge (Alectoris rufa), Grey partridge (Perdix perdix), Little bustard (Tetrax tetrax), Eurasian thick-knee (Burhinus oedicnemus oedicnemus), European roller (Coracias garrulus) and Lesser kestrel (Falco naumanni)

During my last visit to the menagerie at the Jardin des Plantes, the MacQuenn's bustards were housed with Eurasian thick-knee and European turtle doves, all in an aviary smaller than this one!

@Mr Gharial, I guess its huge size for its amount of inhabitants helps, but yes, it's truly a great mix! The bustards mostly stayed in the same area at the back of the aviary, both partridge species were moving around some of the shrubs and the back wall of the structure and the thick-knees patrolled the rest of the aviary, I saw all ground birds be very close to eachother and there were no negative interactions that I could notice between them.
@Tamandua56 I thought that turtle doves would be wonderful new additions to this park, and even more to this aviary! :p
