Unidentified Insect

On 2nd July I walked the Fallen for the Fallen Poppy Trail in Upton, Chester. Part of the trail crosses open farmland. I saw this insect on the path. Can anyone identify it please? I also saw a lot of Red Admiral Butterflies which was nice to see.

It's incredibly hard to see, though I can make out what looks like an orange eye marking. This could liken it to a Meadow Brown though they don't have ragged ends to the leaves but it could always be a worn individual.
