Laotian Langur Juvenile

July 6, 2025.
But where do they come from? Is there a self-sustaining population in zoos?o_O

@Cyathea The species made a mysterious appearance in three Chinese zoos in 2018, including Nantong (5), Wenzhou (1), and Shendiaoshan (2), likely sourced from the same dealer. Nantong had bred the species multiple times since then, and Shanghai acquired their group from Nantong earlier this year. According to the transfer documents, a total of eight individuals were relocated. Although it is still too early to say, the successful breeding in recent years, along with the arrival of new offspring, at least offers some hope for a self-sustaining population in the future.
