@merlin I was more thinking... he has limitations in what he does... which institutions will let him get close, which animals are able to get close, where he is able to get photographs, what visual 'state' the animal/s will be in. I imagine for him that there is a lot of factors that go into it.
So if he were to come and see a 'just as good as the real thing' portrayal of a saola... a Kouprey... or even something like a big bull elephant seal... or perhaps a thylacine... I wouldn't be surprised if he would get a bit nervous.
I have come to realise with this 3D modelling software that there is almost limitless possibilities to what one can do. Yes, there are animals that are complicated, and those that will take months to complete... but I have hard time thinking of any that'd be impossible to replicate the visual form of in software like this.
