Sparrowhawk in the garden in early August 2025. Active bird feeders support some lovely youngsters for the Sparrows, Starlings, Blue tits and Dunnock and enough food for Sparrowhawks. This is the second time I have had good views of a visit in the last year.
I have never seen a sparrowhawk in the wild, having just missed doing so many times. I have see wild Goshawk though.

@Terry Thomas Thanks, second time I have been treated to a nice view...though my neighbours probably think I am certifiable crawling out of the back door and lying around on the patio with a camera.

@bongorob I've seen one at a distance a few times in various places, but the only time I have had close views or the chance to photograph one is in the garden. It's the second season of really productive numbers of garden bird fledgers and it seems to have brought them in more frequently as I have had a few 'kill' sites over the last few months. The houses here back on to some woods (also hear Tawny owls a lot) and I think that's where they fly from.

Lafone I also hear Tawny Owls a lot, in a disued railway crossing. they nest in a closed school about a mile from me, I also think there aer Muntjac in the disuse in the same railway cutting.
