Red Crowned crane chick, ZSL Whipsnade, UK

Thank you for the background information on this pair! They've had quite a history over the past 20 years! Were they put together when he was 22 and she was a first-year bird, or is she a little older?

@Summer Tanager My error actually they were paired in 2009 not 2005 (their ages are right) and I’ll correct the text.Thanks. It’s a really nice run of chicks they have had now.

@Lafone Thank you! And that is a very successful pair because they've fostered others and raised three chicks of their own!

@Summer Tanager Yes they are lovely and it's been exciting each year with a new chick to enjoy. I tried to get a picture every month of the first one but it went off show in month 11 so I was foiled! But it's been good watching them all progress. It's been an excellent few years for the Whipsnade cranes with more than one lot of Red Crowned and Blue chicks.
