Malayan Tapir Exhibit

Zlin appears to have one gorgeous exhibit after another, with a very high overall quality of animal enclosures. No wonder many zoo nerds have been raving about this zoo in recent years.

This is actually the former elephant exhibit and also future okapi exhibit! So in two years there should be okapis in this enclosure and the tapirs will occupy a large paddock connected to the lake with gibbon islands (the tapirs moved from there not so long ago, as a new indoor exhibit is going to be built for them). Also, the vegetation in the paddock will be more lush for the okapis ofc

It's a good size, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of shade for the tapirs. Will this be rectified when they get okapi here?

I think that is the plan. Even now you can see that in the background there is a recently enclosed area full of shrubs and small trees.
