@captain alligator Japanese fire-bellied newt (Cynops pyrrhogaster) and Chinese fire-bellied newt (Cynops orientalis) are both readily available through the pet trade in New Zealand. Ti Point Reptile Park had a number of them.
@Zoofan15 To be honest, I was surprised to learn that the Japanese fire-bellied newt, a species endemic to Japan, is being traded as a pet in New Zealand.
