Reptile House (interior)

Aug. 7th, 2014.
@snowleopard I just visited this place recently and completely missed the reptile house, the animal trail map doesn't show it and the grounds are really spread out so I didn't even know one existed until I saw your photo in the gallery. I feel pretty bummed about not seeing it :(

I know its been over a decade since you visited, but do you by any chance remember what species were held in the building at that time?

@SusScrofa You are right that the current maps (there's a whole bunch on the zoo's website), don't list the Reptile House at all and so I'm wondering if it's still in existence. If you look through the gallery then you'll see that I have an exterior shot of the Reptile House and it's a rather boring looking building that could be anything from the outside. Also in the gallery is a map from 2014 that has #2 labeled as 'Reptile Exhibit' with an icon of a turtle. That's the building with all the terrariums in this photo.

This is what I typed out in 2014:

Reptile House (24 species) – There is a rather nondescript structure off to the side that could easily be missed by many visitors. A small sign states “Reptile Exhibit” but in fact there is a Reptile House connected to an Education Building that contains animals such as Striped Skunks, Barred Owls and Barn Owls. The Reptile House species list has the following 24 species: American Bullfrog, Grey Tree Frog, Plains Leopard Frog, American Toad, Tiger Salamander, Common Snapping Turtle, Alligator Snapping Turtle, Map Turtle, Eastern Box Turtle, Spiny Softshell Turtle, Common Musk Turtle, River Cooter, Red-Eared Slider, Yellow Mud Turtle, Western Fox Snake, Western Hognose Snake, Corn Snake, Bull Snake, Black Rat Snake, Great Plains Rat Snake, Copperhead, Timber Rattlesnake, Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake and Prairie Kingsnake.
