De Brazza's Monkey (Cercopithecus neglectus) September 13, 2025

Certainly looks quite neglectus in those awful concrete monkey cages! How that was ever considered an acceptable way to keep primates is beyond me.
 
@captain alligator I'm aware they're let into the larger meshed area earlier in the day, but even then it's still small and bare!! And yes, this isn't unique to Ueno, I saw similarly poor primate enclosures at Kyoto City Zoo - three Mandrills in a glass box only slightly larger than Ueno's monkey cages was particularly alarming!
