@Giant Eland Thanks! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it running around like a chipmunk. It wasn't scared and let me approach it pretty closely, too!
Pocket-gophers are not as shy as moles when it comes to being above ground, in my experience they come fully above ground with some regularity. I've encountered quite a few running around at night and a handful during the day too.
@Great Argus Agreed. Especially since I've seen pocket gophers a dozen times and don't even live in their range and have never seen a wild mole (even though they are in range) But in all my views of pocket gophers they were never on pavement like this showing off even the feet, with no obstruction!
