I don't think that the zoo is underrated, it is jost not receiving many western visitors.
I quite liked the zoo. It is not a place that deserves special visits, but it is one of the better South American collections. The zoo has a rescue mission and works with local Fauna, which makes him very interesting from a nurd standpoint. Exhibit quality and the landshaft design are very pleasant. One of the few Mazama rufina in captivity, very interesting mammal list, brilliant butterfly walktrough exhibit with 3 species of Owls inside, Impressive Andean condor exhibit, dedicated conservation houses of Marsupial frog and Axolotl adding to the experience. This picture is almost 1 hectares new slop exhibit for rescued Andean bear.
