Thylacine Display
It is cool that a zoo has a display like this. Is that a real mounted thylacine?

I honestly don't know if its real or not, I couldn't tell! I'm thinking its not, given its location and the fact that it's in pretty good condition - not very faded or anything.

It is immediately adjacent to one of the Tasmanian Devil enclosures, which gives a great opportunity to compare two very different large carnivorous marsupials.

It's a model, but it's lovely to see something on display like that. Well done to whoever put it there.

The head and posture appear very lifelike, I have seen photos of live ones in the Hobart zoo(s) which looked like that- maybe they copied a photo.

The colour isn't right though- perhaps they copied that from a (faded) museum specimen? In life they were grey with blackish (or very dark brown) stripes. Museum skins kept out of the light show this clearly.
