This seems like an interesting German zoo, and there are a number of photos of the dolphin, sea lion and manatee exhibits but not a lot of other exhibit shots in the ZooChat gallery. The cheetah and gorilla enclosures look fantastic (are the great apes still mixed with Barbary macaques?) and several of the hoofstock paddocks appear to be enormous. Two ZooChatters recently visited Tiergarten Nurnberg (Allen Nyhuis, author of "America's Best Zoos" and Zooman the well-travelled Aussie) and they both raved about it and named it as one of Europe's better zoos. There seems to be a fairly high level of quality in terms of natural-looking animal habitats, but what do others think? Is this a zoo on the cusp of greatness? Are there plans to ever bring back elephants? Are the aquatic exhibits the star attractions?
