Construction of the new Eismeer at Hagenbeck, Hamburg

I do like how very 'Hagenbeck' it looks. Looks very much a Hamburg construction. Which is just how it should be.

Still it's very different from the old one. Mostly because of the now more natural rock-structures.

What is an "Eismeer" and what species will it feature?

I think it translates into "Ice world" or something close to that. It will have polar bears, walruses, fur seals and penguins. Lots of below water views, some interesting penguin "commuter pathways" alongside the public paths, and no doubt some other clever elements. I must say however I'm disappointed in the quality of the rock work judging from these photos.
