Orangutan house moat with otters

I've always thought that water-moats used for keeping Orangs and Gorrilas could and should be used to keep some kind of animal.

One of my thoughts was indeed Otters but I've been told by severall keepers and curators that it's not a good idea to house "animals that spend too much time in the water" with other animals that should be afraid of the water, or else the primates should be tempeted to try the water or to bully the otters. This never made much sense to me, but ...

Any thoughts?

Have not seem to many apes try to fly after watching birds ;]

Maybe they should make some sort of underwater viewing upfront and use the moat as a tank for fish perhaps? don't know if the orangutans would be tempted to catch the fish? I'm sure it will make a nice display, looking at fish and seeing orangutans swinging above!

From what I've heard the danger is potentially from a stroppy dog otter, leading to a reaction from whatever is supposed to be kept in by the moat....

You see where the visitors are sitting, there they can also see the underwaterview.

Didn't saw that, I thought the visitors were on the same level with the surface of the water. So they have the possibility to create a tank for fish. Still don't know whether the Orangs will see the fish as an option for consumable enrichment...
