This is Rowdy the walsrus in 1956. Shortly before his mat Antje had died. This Antje is not the one which became famous nationwide during the 70-ties - 80-ties.

And not the Raudi who lived with the new Antje together ;) So many animals, so little names ;)

It´s the same phenomenon, which exists for the german elephant seals... Most of them were called Roland, as far as I can remember...
